Bodycenter is the home for STOTT PILATES® Instructor Training and Certification for the Greater Seattle area. We offer this highly regarded training to provide quality instruction to those interested ibecoming Pilates instructors. More information is available by visiting www.stottpilates.com. These courses also serve as continuing education courses for established teachers seeking to fulfill credential requirements.

We offer both the STOTT PILATES® Intensive Courses and the STOTT PILATES® Comprehensive Program. The Intensive Courses are held on the weekend over an “intense” 10 hour weekend. The Comprehensive Program is slower meeting three days during the week over a longer period of time. Practice hours are completed outside of class time hours for the Intensive but included in the Comprehensive schedule. The Comprehensive also includes a full apprenticeship program. Learn the biomechanical principles of STOTT PILATES exercises and their application to the Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) Matwork and Reformer repertoire. This course teaches you to design, teach and modify Essential and Intermediate level classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and to meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general course objectives you will learn:

-Functional anatomy (lecture / demonstration format)
-Use of Flex-Band exerciser, Fitness Circle resistance ring and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises
-Effective use of the reformer to enhance torso stability and strength and for peripheral extremity conditioning, flexibility, joint stability, balance and coordination
-Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
-Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
-How to develop effective matwork, reformer and combined matwork and reformer programs for personal and group training
-Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
-Exercise layering related to effective program design
-185 exercises plus multiple modifications

-Some training in dance, fitness or movement
-At least 30 hours exposure to Pilates

This class provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. At the end of the course you are qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level matwork classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and to meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general
course objectives you learn:

-Workout composition for personal and group training
-Essential, intermediate and power workouts
-Use of the Flex-Band, Fitness Circle and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises.

Prerequisites : working knowledge of functional anatomy, prior pilates experience and three-plus years teaching movement or fitness

Course Duration : 40 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum. 10 hours observation, 30 hours physical review, 15 hours practice teaching.

This class prepares you to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications performed on the Reformer – the key piece of resistance equipment used in pilates exercise. This course teaches you how to combine Mat- and Reformer-based workouts for increased variety and intensity. Upon completion of this course you are able to further motivate group classes and customize personal training sessions for a range of clients. In addition to the general course objectives you learn:

-Effective use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity conditioning
-How to develop effective Reformer and combined Mat-and-Reformer programs for personal and group classes
-Essential, intermediate and power workouts
-Effective communication, visual skills verbal cuing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation

Prerequisites : Anatomy, prior pilates experience, and 3+ years teaching movement or fitness.

Course Duration : 50 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum, 10 hours observation, 40 hours physical review, 25 hours practice teaching. Conducted over three weeks or four weekends.

By the end of this course you are able to fine tune both personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of your clients’ conditioning goals – from post-rehabilitation to athletic performance enhancement. Beyond the general course objectives you learn:

-How to apply STOTT PILATES® biomechanical principles for precision training
-Use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity training
-How to develop dynamic programs for one-on-one and circuit training

Prerequisites : IMP or IR or CMR

Course Duration : 50 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum, 10 hours observation, 40 hours physical review, 25 hours practice teaching. Conducted over three weeks or four weekends.

Beyond the general course objectives, you will learn:

Equips you with the skills and in-depth knowledge required to address a broad range of physical challenges among your clients. Successful completion of this and all Advanced courses is required for Full STOTT PILATES® Certification. At the completion of this lecture-demonstration course, you will be able to customize your clients’ workouts to address particular weaknesses, conditions, postural problems or injuries.

Prerequisites : IMP or CMR

Course Duration : 24 hours of instruction, 16 hours review and practice teaching conducted over four to six days

About Deposits: All applications for the STOTT PILATES® courses must be accompanied by two letters of reference and a deposit of $200 per course. The deposit fee for the first course taken at Bodycenter Studios will be held as payment towards your STOTT PILATES® exam. The exam must be taken within 6 months of the end of the last course. Deposits for subsequent courses will simply be applied towards the fee for that course.

A STOTT PILATES® examination is the same examination whether taken with Bodycenter Studios or at any of the 40+ Licensed Training Centers Worldwide. The fee charged by any Licensed Facility for examinations varies according to local decisions. Should a student who has paid for an exam with Bodycenter Studios choose to certify at an alternative Licensed Center Bodycenter Studios will pay the alternative Examination Center $200.00 towards the published exam fee.

Course materials and exams are not included in the course fees. Course supplies can be purchased at Bodycenter on the first day of class.
