Bodycenter Studios offers physical therapy services in partnership with:
Ellen Roth, PT is a physical therapist with more than 30 years of experience. She began her work as a PT in hospital acute care, dabbled in home care & geriatrics, but then migrated to outpatient orthopedics and further specialized in manual therapy, movement patterns and muscle imbalances. Ellen has always been a continuing education “junkie”, taking 2-3 courses/year, participating in a monthly study group, assisting Carrie Hall PT in teaching movement pattern continuing education programs for PTs for ~12 years, and teaching anatomy and continuing education classes for Pilates Instructors at Bodycenter Studios since 2004.After enjoying years of working with a number of tremendously talented PTs, in September 2009 Ellen started her own business, Smooth Moves PT, within Bodycenter Studios. She feels she’s found her ideal working situation, collaborating with the Pilates instructors, resulting in the best possible outcomes for shared clients. She enjoys using her manual therapy skills (NAIOMT Level 2), then reinforcing the mobility she’s achieved with exercises and postural / movement retaining.Ellen was previously a participating provider with a number of insurance companies, but recently made the decision to terminate her insurance contracts and go to a cash-pay practice as of January 1, 2014. Current rates are $130/evaluation, $100/subsequent visits, $50 missed appt/late cancel. She accepts cash, check or credit card at the time of service. You will be provided with a receipt that has the appropriate diagnostic and billing codes for you to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company.
When not doing PT, Ellen enjoys teaching downhill skiing, running/walking in the woods, cycling, horseback riding, rowing, reading, doing crosswords, photography, and laughing with & at the antics of both her teenaged son, Christopher and her new labradoodle puppy, Bubba.
Suzanne Oliver, PT earned her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1984. She was drawn to the physical therapy profession while in high school. She recognized that physical therapy would allow her an opportunity to practice in a profession where she could apply her interest in movement, exercise and wellness to help others improve their function.
Suzanne was fortunate to develop her skills and work with wonderful mentors. Her most recent intensive training was with the Integrated Systems Model taught by Diane Lee and Linda Joy which looks at the whole body for optimal function. The past few years, she has expanded her manual skills with visceral training as taught by the Barral Institute. She has participated in extensive study of manual therapy with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. In addition, she has many years of training in the treatment of movement impairment syndromes.
Suzanne practices an integrated treatment approach that utilizes her manual therapy skills along with her passion for developing specific exercise to improve movement awareness, muscle balance and performance. Suzanne values the opportunity to use her skill with movement analysis to help achieve optimal function
Suzanne enjoys reading and spending time outdoors to garden, run, ski, climb, hike and paddle. Her most recent outdoor pursuits are learning how to surf, outrigger canoe and mountain bike.
Less than half of available appointments are available using the online schedule system. On Tuesday, Suzanne practices at nearby location. Please, email, phone or text me for scheduling options.
Kateryna Bakay earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2010. While she practiced in a variety of settings, the world of orthopedics has become her passion. She initially moved to the PNW to work at Boeing manufacturing where she treated employees following traumatic and overuse injuries as well as provided onsite ergonomic evaluations. After several years of working at an industrial setting, Kateryna transitioned to a private orthopedic clinic to further develop her clinical skills, working with patients to improve posture and muscular strength for everyday activities, “weekend warriors,” and recreational athletes.
Kateryna prefers to apply her PT training in concert with the pilates method to create a more holistic approach to each patient. Watching patients move their bodies in all planes of motion while focusing on stabilizing their core is fascinating and makes sense from rehabilitation perspective. Her STOTT certification in clinical pilates method has helped her to overcome personal injuries, and significantly influenced her treatment style. Her patients recover more efficiently and effectively with this approach. Staying current with industry trends, training, and education, she became a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Bike Fit specialist. Earning her OCS credentials, she verified her industry experience amongst her peers and translates that expertise to each patient. As a PT certified to complete bike fitting, she works with recreational riders, tri-athletes, and dedicated cyclists to ensure bike geometry is matching the rider’s biomechanics.
Owning her own practice has been Kateryna’s long term goal. In 2017, she founded Bend & Stretch Physical Therapy, pursuing her passion of providing an individualized pilates based physical therapy treatment. Kateryna believes that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Her treatment focus is to empower her patients and provide them with tools so that they may achieve their fitness and health goals. Kateryna and her husband practice this philosophy and take every opportunity to explore the outdoors; road and mountain biking, practicing pilates, traveling, camping, gardening, or simply relaxing at their home in West Seattle.
At Bodycenter Studios, Kateryna offers physical therapy services and pilates instruction. She is eager to work with you and develop an approach that meets your short-term goals and develop a strategy for long-term management of your health.
