The following workshops are open to Pilates Instructors of any background as well as other movement practitioners. Payment must be made in advance to reserve your space. We are ACE (American Council on Exercise) providers and BOC (Board of Certification) providers.
| Cervical Spine Workshop Date: May 4th, 5:00-9:00 Instructor: Ellen Roth, PT Fee: $125 CECs: .2 STOTT PILATES CECs | Learn the details about the cervical core muscles and how to properly engage these deep muscles. This delicate area of the spine has incredible range of motion and can be injured easily. We will also look at how shoulder girdle alignment and muscular balance affects the cervical spine |
| STOTT PILATES Crossover from Intensive Mat to Group Mat Date: May 5th, 12:00-7:00 Instructor: Kristi Quinn Fee: $225 .6 STOTT PILATES CECs | This course is designed for instructors who have completed our Intensive or Comprehensive Mat-Plus training. Enhance your group instruction skills enabling you to teach group matwork safely while keeping classes upbeat and motivating. Learn to conduct an orientation class designed specifically for clients entering group matwork classes. Instructors will leave with ten pre-designed Essential through Intermediate workouts ready to teach in a group environment. These incorporate small equipment (Flex-Band exercisers, Fitness Circle resistance rings and Toning Balls) and cover a variety of intensity levels. Following this course, students are eligible to take the Matwork exam of the Group SPX stream that tests group training knowledge and skills. |

Enhance your group instruction skills enabling you to safely teach a small group reformer session while keeping the class upbeat and motivating. You will also learn an orientation class designed specifically for clients who are entering group reformer classes. Instructors will leave ready to teach twelve pre-designed Essential through Intermediate workouts in a group environment as well as a number of plyometric exercises performed on the jumpboard. Following this course, instructors are eligible to take the Reformer exam of the the Group SPX stream that tests group training knowlegde and skills. |
| Lumbar Spine Workshop Date: May 19th, 11-4:00 Instructor: Ellen Roth, PT Fee: $150 .2 STOTT PILATES CECs | Deepen your understanding of the alignment of the pelvis and its relationship to the lumbar spine. Exploring anatomy and movement patterns, we will discuss common dysfunction in everyday movement and how this can affect STOTT PILATES exercises. During the lab portion of the class, you will practice applying your new skills of observation and cueing to teaching Pilates exercises. |

| STOTT PILATES Conditioning Towel Workshop for Strength & Mobility Date: August 10th, 5:30-7:30 Instructor: Michelle Gantz Fee $125 .2 STOTT PILATES CECS | Discover how a simple tool such as a towel can transform regular Matwork into an invigorating and energizing core training workout. This simple Pilates-based routine, created by the programming team at Merrithew Health & Fitness™, uses the support and resistance of a Conditioning Towel to maintain form and make the exercises even more effective. The towel functions to help increase range of motion around the joints and allows muscles to lengthen effectively. This is ideal for those who are less flexible. Scapular and shoulder stability are highlighted while core strength and stability are built, enabling better performance in all other physical activities. The workout, designed to stimulate both cardiovascular and muscular effectiveness is ideal for both the recreational and professional athlete. Discover how to combine progressive plyometric intervals, varying both in length and intensity, with muscular strength and endurance moves on the vertical mini trampoline. The routine features non-traditional Pilates exercises that use the incredible diversity of the Reformer to effectively train both concentric and eccentric muscular ability. 2-4 Jumpboard Interval Training Level 2 with Michelle Gantz Give your clients and classes something to jump about with this pumped up workout on the Reformer. Increase intensity and challenge coordination and cardiovascular fitness using more complex jumpboard intervals while ensuring safety and proper technique. Incorporate strengthening exercises for upper and lower body as well as the all-important core. Designed for intermediate to advanced level clients or groups, this plyometric workout will deliver all-over fitness while easily motivating and maintaining interest. 4:30-6:30 Athletic Conditioning with the Stability Cushions with Shane Belau Discover a new and intensive core training workout featuring the Stability Cushions. Controlling instability with a pair of cushioned disks requires activation of the stabilizing muscles of the torso, shoulders and hips. Exercises are designed to illicit greater proprioceptive awareness and recruit the deep support systems of the whole body while developing greater co-ordination and control. Discover a new facet to Matwork programs that increase body awareness and core stability in movements that bridge the gap between simple core training routines and functional movement patterns necessary in athletic conditioning. |
| Sunday the 30th: 12-2 Pre-natal Reformer with Kristi Quinn Any trainer will realize the benefits of taking Moms-to-be from traditional Matwork variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations will be explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals will all be taken in to account when creating new and ongoing programs. 2-4 Pre-natal Cadillac with Kristi Quinn Moms-to-be require special movement considerations and exercise modifications. The multi-dimensional Cadillac Trapeze Table helps bring this special population from traditional Matwork variations to appropriate exercise adaptations using the push-thru bar, roll-down bar, arm and leg springs. Drawing on the latest medical information and ACOG guidelines, exercises keep anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations in mind. Workouts are concentrated on second trimester concerns with appropriate positioning and resistance components discussed. 4:30-6:30 Post-Natal Pilates with Toning Balls with Kristi Quinn Most women will be able to return to exercise four to six weeks after a regular birth or when they get clearance from their physician. Many of the exercises they may have been performing during the second and third trimester of pregnancy will be suitable now, but other exercises can be added to focus on reactivating and stabilizing the pelvic floor, transverses abdominis and obliques as well as developing lumbo-pelvic stability. This gentle but effective workout will incorporate Toning Balls™ to get moms back on the right track. |

| Osteoporosis: The Silent Disease Date: November 3rd, 1:00-5:00 Instructors: Nancy Brose and Kristi Quinn Fee: $125 .2 STOTT PILATES CECs | Osteoporosis is on the rise in all developed countries-at this point in time 1 in every 3 women and 1 in every 5 men over 50 is expected to develop the condition. Over the last 20 years research confirms that load bearing exercise can reverse or prevent Osteoporosis. Pilates has been identified as an exercise regimes that reverses Osteoporosis. Pilates clients have seen their bone density numbers increase and reduced fracture risk. With results like this you can't afford not to be educated about Pilates for Osteoporosis. When you are done with this class, you will not only understand what Osteoporosis is, you will understand current diagnostic techniques, benefits and dangers of treatments, how to approach training a client with Osteoporosis and how to think through modifying an exercise to make it safe for clients that are at risk. Recommended and contraindicated STOTT PILATES reformer and mat exercises will be reviewed. |
